Have you ever wondered what a deaf or hard-of-hearing person really can achieve?
Growing up, I faced and conquered many challenges on my journey to accepting my hearing loss and learning to manage it. Like many others, including my older brother, who also has a hearing loss, I have experienced negativity around it. I've struggled with the limiting beliefs of others as well as myself. I've feared sharing I was hearing impaired in case others thought I wasn't capable. However, this didn’t stop me from getting a place at Cambridge University or pursuing a successful career in the City.
It’s wrong that the abilities of young people with hearing loss are so underestimated
I’ve realised the vital influence of deaf role models in helping me debunk my inbuilt demons about what I was capable of. I believe “you have to see me to be me”. So I’m here to show you what people like me really can achieve with the right support at the right time.
